An Amazing General Assembly

What a GA! Environmental issues were represented in so many of the events, services, and business sessions.  Many of the sessions were videotaped and are online at http://www.uua.org/events/generalassembly/2010/index.shtml.   Two Actions of Immediate Witness were passed on environmental issues: "Gulf Coast Environmental

and Economic Justice 2010"  and "Clean Up the Clean Energy Bill."  The official text will be posted next week on uua.org.  On Sunday, 35 new Green Sanctuary congregations were recognized (video of Plenary VII, about 19:12) at  http://www.uua.org/events/generalassembly/2010/ga2010/165853.shtml .  In addition, the Business Resolution "The Green Revolution in Religion" also passed after discussion and minor changes in the mini-assembly. A fantastic and fascinating Ware Lecture was delivered by Winona LaDuke   (here's a story http://blogs.uuworld.org/ga/2010/06/26/laduke-urges-environmental-action-in-ware-lecture/)  and also on the GA site at http://www.uua.org/events/generalassembly/2010/ga2010/165861.shtml.

Friday night,  UUMFE and UU Ecominds co-hosted a wonderful event that included a delicious vegetarian/vegan supper, UUMFE business meeting, networking, and a screening of the movie "No Impact Man."  A great evening!

One of the most amazing decisions to come out of this assembly was the "Justice GA" proposed for 2012 in Arizona. Several reports have already been posted:  http://www.uuworld.org/news/articles/167428.shtml . http://blogs.uuworld.org/ga/2010/06/25/mini-assembly-proposes-going-to-ariz-in-2012/
