Title:  Communications Contractor

Reports to: Executive Director

Hours:  10-12 hours per week

Term: December 1, 2024 – June 30, 2025 with the possibility of extension

Hourly rate: $28 (1099)

Location:  Remote

Role Description

The Communications Contractor has the following responsibilities: 

  • Collect news from designated partners and UUMFE Executive Director, write and send newsletter twice per month
  • Online event marketing and support (about 4 events per year)
    • Sets up Zoom meetings
    • Create calendar entry for website
    • Create webpage and slider
    • Create graphic in Canva
    • Design social media plan 
    • Include events in newsletters
    • Provide AV support for the actual events
  • Interact with graphic designer when necessary
    • Graphic designer has created a brand book and is available one hour per week if necessary
  • Make website edits using WordPress
    • (We have a WordPress designer who handles complicated updates)
  • Social media
    • Create graphics in Canva using the brand book guidelines 
    • Daily social media posts, monitoring and replies
  • Edit videos of program or marketing content
  • Manage and update CRM database including entering contact information, removing duplicates, recording donations, and generating reports
  • Respond to emails
  • Support all communication related to fundraising including emails and mailings
  • Thank you notes to funders
  • Administrative support for Executive Director

Qualifications & Skills (May be met as a result of lived experience, volunteer work, professional experience, and/or formal or informal training)

  • Extremely strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and show initiative
  • Excellent written, verbal, and online communication skills
  • Commitment to Unitarian Universalist principles of justice, equity and compassion
